About The Work
Le Pigeon captures moments instinctively. When he is drawn to photograph something, he neither waits for the « decisive moment » nor follows a precise technique. Whether for the Matane series, for the image titled Paris or NY, all were born from single and unique moments. One would be unable to recreate these fleeting moments. The image’s grain and hazy definition add to their pureness and rawness. Timeless images move the the artist.
WHAT TYPE OF PAPER IS THE PHOTOGRAPH PRINTED ON?
All prints are Digital Pigment prints on museum-quality acid-free papers such as Museum Etching, Canson Rag and Arches Velin. These papers are designed to meet galleries and museum longevity requirements and ensure consistency of shades 200 years old. The choice of paper is suggested by the Photographer according to his or her preferences.
WHAT IS THE PRINTING PROCESS USED?
All prints are Digital Pigment Prints using the latest top of the line technology, archival high dynamic inks and 200 years old life paper.
IS THE IMAGE SIZE THE SAME AS THE PAPER SIZE?
NO! Our prints are on standard paper sizes and we don’t alter the image size and proportions to fit the paper. Each print has a minimum of 0.5 inch white border. This is an artistic decision that belongs to the artist. Margins don’t normally exceed 2-4 inches on each side depending on the final paper size.
Le Pigeon was born in Montreal’s east end, where he first discovered life ‘anywhere than in the schoolyard’ and then took to street photography or perhaps photography of the streets. Le Pigeon’s states that “If I’m often caught looking at the ground it’s because I have an unbridled passion for feet, especially those of women.”
An autodidact who shoots on film with a 35mm camera, Le Pigeon has just published his first book, a retrospective of his ‘point and shoot’ work. His work has also been featured in magazines such as Perle, SNAP, Nightlife, Urbania and Vice.
